It is safe to say my little girls were deep into the Frozen craze even before they had ever seen the film. Rocking out to the soundtrack, dressing up in the costumes/dresses, and insisting they be called “Elsa” and “Anna”… their passion continued to grow daily. A passion that quickly grew into an obsession after their first official “Frozen” viewing party.
With that said, when it came time to plan their joint birthday party (birthdays both in the month of September)… it came as no surprise that “Frozen” was on the top of their list for themes.
While I had no problem turning the inside of our home into a winter wonderland despite the 80 degree weather outside, it felt only natural to build upon the “Frozen Fever” short film, with a heavy emphasis on sunflowers in the middle of September.
Wanting to host your own Frozen Fever inspired children’s party? Here is how I did it!

INVITATION
I wanted it clear the minute my guests opened their invitation that a Frozen Fever party was in the works. A quick Etsy search brought me to an adorable digital invitation that I was able to customize to my liking.
ATTIRE
Finding the perfect Frozen Fever Elsa and Anna dresses didn’t prove to be too difficult (though I will admit, the standard Frozen dresses are FAR more plentiful). However, what did prove to be a large challenge was finding ones that would fit my soon-to-be 2-year-old (who would be Anna) and 4-year-old (who would be Elsa). Despite endless research, the smallest available sizes (at least at the time of my hunt) was a 4T (for Anna) and a 6T (for Elsa). With that said, some alterations were definitely in need. So, a little hemming, reconfiguring of the mid-section, and train bustling later (I swear the bustle on my daughter’s Elsa costume’s train would rival my own wedding train bustle, ha)… the dresses were complete!
Making sure not to forget about the hair and knowing perfectly well that there was no way my young children would tolerate wigs for an extended period of time, I opted for clip in hair pieces. I found mine here.
MENU
When planning my menu, I wanted to make sure that catchy phrases could be connected to the theme. I’d be lying if I said I patented every one of these cute phrases all on my own. In fact, just like with every one of my parties, I scoured Pinterest to aid in my planning.
My core menu consisted of:
- A veggie platter, “Snowman noses”
- A sub sandwich platter (ordering several variety platters from Subway couldn’t have been easier), “Sisters always finish each other’s sentences & sandwiches”
- A cheese and sausage platter, “Sunflower cheese & sausage”
- Sunflower seeds
- Small bags of chips, “Ice Chips”
- Mini pretzel rods, mini marshmallows, candy corn, chocolate chips mix, “Snowman snack mix”
- Hershey kisses, “Warm hugs & kisses”
- Powder donuts, “Snowballs”
- Cookies designed as Olaf & sunflowers for party favors
- And of course the classic Frozen Fever CAKE!
DECORATIONS
Frozen Fever Finds
- I never can help but to go a bit overboard with decorating. Nothing says a Frozen Fever party better than seeing it plastered over every single square inch of wall space ;). In order to create my look I turned to Wayfair to find my Frozen Fever cutouts.
- Finding the themed napkins and plates proved to be a bit of a challenge as it appeared several shops were discontinuing them. With that said, I did a standard google search and mixed and matched shops until I found what I needed. You can find the majority of what is needed here.
Sunflower Decorations
- In order to create the paper sunflowers for the birthday banner and food tags, I simply ordered these yellow paper doilies and then cut circles out of brown paper to attach to the middle. The tags I customized via Canva and attached as needed.
- The large 18 inch tissue paper sunflowers hanging from the ceiling were found here.
- The abundance of fake sunflowers scattered in vases throughout my home were found in large part at the local dollar store. The remainder I already had as home decorations.
Miscellaneous Items
- In order to create the appearance of “snowgies” everywhere, I purchased large bags of cotton balls and scattered them throughout the party.
- I purchased yellow yarn to use as the string that lead to the presents (just like in the short film), and to lead to our entertainment (more on this below).
- It is safe to say that not everyone invited to the party (grandparents, great grandparents, etc.) had seen the short film. With that said, I wanted to include visuals to better explain the theme and decorations. I did this by photocopying pages out of the Frozen Fever book and displaying them around the party.
GIFT BAGS
What is a party without a gift bag? With Frozen Fever (Olaf & Sunflower) cookies for the adults, I wanted a bag full of goodies for the youngsters at the event. (All items were found at Party City, with the exception of crowns which were found at Target.) Included in the bags were:
- Princess crown
- Frozen stickers
- Frozen body glitter
- Frozen crayons
- Frozen coloring book
- Frozen camera
- Frozen light up wand (my personal favorite)
ENTERTAINMENT
Full disclosure, I partnered with Princesses by Paolina in exchange for my review, but as ALWAYS, I only recommend brands/businesses that I truly love and all opinions included are 100% my own. In fact, I can’t stop recommending them to everyone who I speak to regarding the party!
Princesses by Paolina
Hands down the BEST part of the entire party was our entertainment… i.e. the incredible Princesses by Paolina– a children’s entertainment company. After being asked to portray Cinderella for Dream Parties during their national tour in 2015, Paolina fell in love with the idea of enchanting children and decided to start her very own business after returning to her hometown. In an effort to offer every child a memory that will last a lifetime at an affordable rate, she started Princesses by Paolina in January of 2017.
I honestly can not say enough great things about this company and its owner, Paolina. From the minute we connected, Paolina understood my vision and exactly what I wanted for the party. She was incredibly flexible with scheduling (even graciously willing to reschedule one week out when the party needed to be cancelled and rescheduled due to the passing of my dear grandfather). In addition, Elsa and Anna’s dresses and appearance were top notch (truly beautiful and classic) and they never once broke character (incredibly knowledgeable about the roles they were playing). Lastly, it may come as no surprise that it took the kiddos a couple minutes to warm up to the shock of having Elsa and Anna right in front of them. During this process, Elsa and Anna couldn’t have been more patient, understanding, and professional about connecting with the children… having them all warm up in no time with giant smiles plastered on their faces for days to come.
Since this day, I truly can’t stop recommending Princesses by Paolina to others. If you are anywhere in the Wisconsin area, I would HIGHLY recommend them for your next party! With a large selection of princesses and DC/Marvel superheroes… Princesses by Paolina are available for both private and public functions including birthday parties, meet and greets, and family-oriented corporate outings.
Sharing the surprise
We definitely wanted Elsa and Anna to be a surprise for all. With that said, we noted on the invites that a special guest would be arriving at such a time. With this in mind, we made sure all guests were downstairs (plates of food made) and in position for the special guests arrival. We then informed the birthday girls and little party guests that just like in the Frozen Fever film when Elsa tells Anna to follow the string to her presents, that they needed to do the same. So, each holding a piece of the yellow string, they followed it out of the room until they were led to Elsa and Anna. It goes without saying, the moment was magical!
Keeping in theme as sisters finishing each other’s sandwiches ;).
Overall, the party was a ton of fun and definitely screamed Frozen Fever!
