With Mother’s Day right around the corner, are you wondering what the special moms in your life REALLY want for Mother’s Day? Flowers? Jewelry? A day at the spa? Breakfast in bed? A day alone? A day with the family?
With so many people truly stumped, and so many moms not wanting to give a definitive answer when prompted (does “I don’t need anything” sound familiar when you find yourself asking the question?), sometimes it is best to go straight to the source.
Mama Tested-Mama Approved
As part of my βMama Tested-Mama Approvedβ series, I polled a collection of moms to ask this exact question.Β (Do you want to be a part of the polls in the future and receive the chance to win amazing giveaways in the process? You can join the free Facebook groupΒ here.)
With a wide variety of honest and unique answers, the idea MAY or may NOT be what you were expecting. With all listed below, a common theme appeared to be a day off Β of everyday mom duties!
Check out what moms REALLY want for Mother’s Day below!
- Homemade gifts made by the kiddos (may require parental supervision by someone other than mom!)
- Skin cream specific to wrinkles and tired eyes (specific recommendation was the “Rodan + Fields Redefine” line)
- Instant pot (the gift that could benefit the entire family!)
- Professional massage (prenatal massages come highly recommended for expecting mamas as well!)
- Uninterrupted nap time (for mama that is ;)!).
- A clean and organized house (where mama gets a free pass!)
- A family day trip (to the zoo, museum, lunch, etc.)
- Breakfast in bed (after being able to sleep in as long as desired of course)
- Large coffe mug with a fun/inspiring quote (emphasis on the “large” component)
- New pajamas
- Succulents/house plants
- Plush rube
- Personalized coffee mug (bring on the photos with the kiddos!)
- Pedicure and/or manicure
- Laser hair removal gift vouchers
- A day free of all mom-related duties (while the snuggles and kisses are always appreciated, we could all use a day off of diaper changes, discipline, cleaning, and cooking for others.)
- An entire night of interrupted sleep
- A day free to do whatever mom wants (shopping, binge watching Netflix, a manicure… if she can dream it, she can do it!)
- Personalized necklace with children’s initials or names
- Starting a fun new tradition that can be implemented year after year.Β (One mama shared this adorable tradition that makes her smile every Mother’s Day, “My husband and the boys always plant flowers in our window box. They usually don’t match at all and they make me smile all summer.”)
- A breastmilk necklace (did you know that you can send away a super small portion of mama’s breastmilk and turn it into a necklace? If the special mom in your life recently ended her breastfeeding journey with baby this would be a beautiful gift!)
- A day free to catch up on projects
- A personalized tote bagΒ (that benefits mothers in Haiti)
- Fixing/completing a household task that has been on the to-do list FOREVER (i.e. a broken appliance, repainting a room, etc.)
- Athleta or LuluLemon apparel
- A day completely planned FOR and NOT by mom (implementing some of the ideas above, surprise her with a day of fun!)

Maureen says
These are great recommendations! My mom is picky and most of the time she tells me she wants nothing. It does get a little frustrating so instead of a gift this year, I am thinking lunch or dinner. After all, she can’t argue about spending time!! Lol π I am a mom too and I actually don’t need anything but I just want quality time whether a walk in the park or sitting down together with my son, that’s all I want.

Sounds like the perfect idea for your mother, Maureen! I hope she loved the experience! I almost ALWAYS take an experience over a tangible gift to be honest with you :). I hope you had a magical Mother’s Day with your son!
Alicia Owen says
Yes! I always expect something cute from the kids. ha ha But some of the others listed above would be nice too, like getting a free pass from doing household crap or working on a project that needs done that I can’t/don’t have time to do!

What a lovely list of love for well deserving moms. My joy is two beautiful phone calls and taken out for dinner by the father of my children.
We are going to feature your post on the next Blogger’s Pit Stop, I am sure it will give some ideas to help others.
